make someone smile

this post is a bit overdue..i know but anyway my weekend challenge from last weekend spilled over into my last week a bit but it was still amazing. being a guyanese girl, i never really meet many other guyanese people. one of my first graduate school classes, i walked in and saw a tall, brown guy. a brown guy! AND HE WAS GUYANESE! we immediately connected and once telling him of my ancestry and past he was smiling and excited to continue and build this relationship.

i'm certain that what i learn from him will be more than from the class itself and i look forward to building the relationship that i could with a guyanese scholar, which is something i would like to be identified with by the end of my degree(s)...a female first-generation Guyanese-American scholar. :)

Smile!

I found this while browsing on pinterest the other day and I am determined to visit at some time in my life. It's a Shawl Museum. There are a few around the world in which I've unfortunately have never visited (plan to visit the exhibit at The Met at some point next month). Anyways, this is so beautiful and I do love my scarves and shawls and always welcoming new ones from all over the world to my collection. (on my trip to China earlier in the year I bought 4 scarves- all from different cities!) The photo below is from the Pavlovsky Posad Shawl Museum in Moscow, Russia. Absolutely to die for. Please click on the photo (and link above) for more!

Smile

I got my DSLR (Canon EOS Rebel T3i) about six months ago and love taking photos with "him" but also of everything. I always have so much trouble lugging it around with me and finding a cute/large enough bag to carry it around in. I was in search of a great camera bag and found this awesome posting on lespetitesflaneuses for creating your own vintage camera bag!
